Kippford makes a fantastic base for your self catering holiday. Kippford is a picturesque yachting centre on the bank of the River Urr in Dumfries and Galloway. There are two pubs, both serving food and there is a regular bus service along the Colvend Coast. Banks, Co-ops and petrol can be found in Dalbeattie, [8 miles] and Castle Douglas [12 miles]. The Post Office at Colvend [3 miles] sells papers and a good range of groceries. Basics are available at the nearby caravan site in Kippford during the summer.
Kippford is perfect for a holiday with its wonderful views and the dramatic sunsets. There are miles of walks in forests, along cliff paths and on local footpaths, not forgetting a wide variety of cycling. You can walk to Rockcliffe, a nearby village, along coastal paths.
Further afield is a wealth of exploring, including visits to the historic sites and distinctive towns and gardens of Galloway.
Because it is a lovely modern self catering cottage in the perfect holiday setting!
The Old Post office was indeed the old post office about 80 years ago and was just one room. Then it was extended in the 1950s to provide a one-bedroomed cottage. We have owned the house since 1991, enjoying it as a holiday bolt hole, but in 2003 it was extended again and considerably altered. It overlooks the water on Rough Firth, and has spectacular views across to Bengairn and Screel and of course wonderful sunsets.
